“Be a Catalyst” Illinois Dinner 2023 Guest Speaker

Angie Hanson, Sex Trafficking Advocate

Angie Hanson

Angie Hanson is married and a mother to three.  She has been part of the Bloomington Normal community most of her life. Angie considers it a privilege to have served as an advocate in the fight against sex trafficking. She is dedicated to making a positive difference and creating a world where every person feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Angie understands that trafficking doesn’t only happen in third world countries but right here in our neighborhoods.  One night almost five years ago, her bible study changed locations and met at the Catalyst Ministries office. That’s when she learned she could be a part of a faith based organization fighting for victims of sex trafficking. She instantly knew she wanted to walk alongside those at Catalyst.

While following the biblical beliefs that every individual is created in the image of God and we are all compelled to help, Angie has served as a lifeline to those trapped by the chains of sex trafficking. She does this by partnering with many at the Catalyst Farm residential program and being a life mentor to the women. Her weekly involvement has helped residents process their trauma and learn to do everyday activities as they strive for a stable and fulfilled life.  She also prays for and with the women in hopes of empowering each survivor to rebuild their lives centered in Christ, discover their identities, and flourish in their newfound freedom.

It is Angie's hope that together we can break down the walls of ignorance and judgment, bring more advocates to the fight, and stop the heinous crimes that exploit the vulnerable while forcing them into a life of unimaginable trauma.
